My view on studying

Since I have gained two degrees and studying the third I have formed an opinion about engineering studying that I would like to share with you.

For me, studying engineering is a mindset rather than a collection of information.

Nowadays, we all can get any information at any time because of the many free AIs under our noses and in our pockets. I do not particularly aim to keep most of the information in my head — that would be like filling my memory storage with something not really useful. My idea is always to know how to use the information and only store essential things that can be used to deduce the information in the time of need.

Based on my theory, I see studying in the university not as fully understanding, but rather as knowing how to pass certain hurdles. Let’s face it: no one remembers everything they have studied! And if someone has this magical ability of remembering all of the engineering materials all at once, he or she will be the next Einstein!

So in my course of study, I faced many subjects — from heat transfer and thermodynamics to wind turbines and control theory — and at the end I can only say: I remember only the names of the materials and a highlight about them, but since I did not use them in practical applications, they are all archived in my brain like an old WhatsApp message at the bottom of the many, many stored chats.
